BLOOD - New Exhibition at The Corner Store Gallery
BLOOD - The Corner Store Gallery, August 10-20.
Is creativity learned? Or is it genetic, is it in the blood?
BLOOD is a collaborative body of work between mother and son duo Madeline Young and Magnus Young-Holborow. This body of work was born of a creative block, some necessary multitasking and an accident.
Feature Article, Hunter and Folk
Finding calm in minimal clean, soothing compositions and the seasonal colour palette of Orange, NSW, artist Madeline Young presents her creative explorations in two upcoming shows.
This Place a Group Exhibition
Five female artists from across Australia respond to the landscape.
Abstract artists Daniela Cristallo, Fleur Stevenson, Jackie Anderson, Liz Wickramasinghe and Madeline Young have each created a series of works that celebrate a specific place or landscape. While these artists all have very different styles, this exhibition will bring them all together in a beautiful abstract landscape exhibition.
After the Fire - Solo Exhibition at M16 Artspace in Canberra
In February 2018, the national park at Mount Canobolas just outside of Orange, and a place I spend a lot of time and find much inspiration, was ravaged by bushfire. I began painting this series in mid-2019, in response to seeing the way the bush was slowly recovering from the devastation. I am in awe of the resilience of the environment and its ability to adapt and regrow after natural disasters like drought and bushfire.
The Light is Different Here - Solo Exhibition at The Corner Store Gallery in Orange
Madeline Young’s abstract compositions are inspired by the unique beauty of the Australian bush; the way dappled sunlight filters through the canopy, casting long rays of light and shadow and the distinctive blue-green of Eucalyptus leaves filling the air with their familiar scent. Madeline simplifies and exaggerates the shapes she finds in nature and uses blocks of colour to create works that, like the Australian bush, are simultaneously vibrant and serene.
