GOST Feature Artist
GOST is delighted to announce Madeline Young has joined GOST. I first met Madi last year when she was visiting Canberra. She saw my flyer, popped in and we hit it off straight away. It’s so rare to meet another artist who runs their own gallery and willing to share the lows and highs of running a small business. She also happens to be a talented artist and we love that her abstract paintings have arrived at GOST. We think you will love the way she has given the Australian Bush pops of colours from hues of pinks through to greens and blues. We only have a limited number of new works especially created for our gallery.
As told to HerCanberra recently:
These works are some of the smallest I’ve ever made—GOST has a size limit on artworks because it’s a VERY small space. They are all square, on deep edge canvas.
I stretch the canvas myself and use clear gesso, this gives the surface a really rough, chalky texture which makes the oil paint dry with a matt finish. There are a lot of soft blues and always, always pink—it’s physically impossible for me to make anything without pink!
They’re all based loosely on the landscape around Mount Canobolas just outside of Orange. I hope the colours evoke the mood of the seasons.
To read more about Madeline visit her artist page which tells you more about the works we have at GOST. We have created a little video (see below) of her artworks so you can go on a virtual tour through the Australian Bush, her studio and a glimpse of her artworks.
