Madeline Young is based in Orange NSW on Wiradjuri Country and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Newcastle completed in 2009. She has exhibited widely across Australia over the past 10 years in both solo and group exhibitions. Alongside her art practice, Madeline works full-time as a Curator and Gallery Director, which influences and shapes her own work.

Inspired by her young son’s naïve and completely intuitive mark making and drawing, Madeline’s new work is a joyful expedition into pure abstraction. Colour is the most important element in her work, unconsciously changing with the seasons and her emotional state. Texture and composition play a vital role in creating depth and history through many layers of different mediums and materials.
